The Believer’s Assignment

God does nothing randomly. He has an intent for everything He does. If you have made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life, God has chosen you. You are royalty, part of a holy nation and part of His special people. (1 Peter 2:9 NKJV)

Now what’s the Assignment?

2 Corinthians 5:14-21 (NKJV)14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteous.”

Live for Christ

Living for Jesus involves practicing your Faith. Verse 15 of the above passage tells us that “…those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him (Jesus Christ) who died for them and rose again.” As born again Christians, we are to live our lives daily in a way that glorifies God. Jesus has called us to carry our crosses daily; it will involve letting go of the desires of the flesh and following the leadership and guidance of the Holy Spirit. We are to allow His voice and Word to guide our every step.

The Ministry of Reconciliation

We have been called to the Ministry of Peace and the Word of Reconciliation as believers of Christ. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.”  Verses 18 and 19 clearly explain how God first reconciled us to Himself and then committed to us the ministry of reconciliation to reconcile men back to the body of Christ as well as to each other.

Ambassadors of Christ

Lastly, the passage above also talks about being ambassadors of Christ, representatives of Christ. We are to promote the Word of Reconciliation imploring men to be reconciled with God.

I live for Jesus day after day.
I live for Jesus and come what may.
The Holy Spirit I will obey.
I live for Jesus day after day.
